Hone your woodworking skills by creating a hand-crafted jewelry box for yourself or as a gift to keep cherished small keepsakes organized. Beginners and more experienced craftspeople alike will leave this comprehensive class with a beautiful jewelry box complete with compartments and a removeable tray. Participants will receive safety and usability training to provide confidence in your ability to use the jointer, planer, band saw, table saw, router and more.

This course provides a foundational education on the features and use of a standard sewing machine. You will learn how to prepare the machine for use, change the settings for different uses, and gain the ability to use patterns. The course will help you build the confidence to tackle your sewing projects. Participants can expect to make a pillow cover, a zippered pouch, and a pair of pajama/lounge pants. For the final sessions of the class, the instructor will provide you with guidance as you tackle your independent projects with the remaining time.

Supplies for instructor led projects are included. Instructor will provide guidance on necessary materials needed for independent projects.

Teens will learn about visual communications as they explore the foundations of graphic design using Inkscape, a free, online graphic design software and is a great
introduction program for teens looking to take their traditional art into the realm of technology. The focus of this class is learning the design software, but participants will also take the skills they've learned in Inkscape and see how they can translate them to some of the Makerspace's other exciting equipment. Using the vinyl cutter and heat press, students will transfer their uniquely made designs onto tshirts and tote bags.

Make and customize your own "squishymallow-like" stuffed toy in this youth and parent/guardian workshop. Families will work together to customize their pattern design, learn about the sewing machines and their functions, assemble and stuff to create their new soft and squishy best friend!

Please note this workshop is for youth and a parent/guardian (or guardian approved substitute) MUST be present and actively participate.
